Chris Rees is a Director of Impact Solutions International and primarily focuses on leadership development, facilitation, training and coaching in Australia and internationally. He delivers Impact Solutions International’s Executive Leadership Development and Personal Transformation programs, and is a trained NLP coach and Leadership Circle practitioner.

In Impact Solutions International Chris facilitates the development and delivery of high quality leadership and organisational development programs in public, private and not-for-profit organisations. Chris also works in S. E. Asia on a frequent basis to co-facilitate transformational programs with groups emerging out of armed conflict, or to support and develop organisations and their staff who do this work. Chris has also been a visiting teacher and coach on the Applied Conflict Transformation Masters Program with the Centre for Peace and Conflict Studies (CPCS) in Cambodia, which is linked to the University of Phnom Penh.  In early 2017 Chris was contracted to work one-on-one with male peace leaders from across SE Asia as a component of CPCS’s Transformative Peace Leadership Programme.

Chris’ initial tertiary qualifications were in education and biology from the University of London (Bachelor of Education, Hons.). He has more than 15 years’ experience as a teacher of biology and ecology. He has taught and lectured at secondary, technical and undergraduate levels. In 1993 Chris expanded his education by completing a Masters of Environmental Studies at the University of Tasmania. This study saw him transition as a manager within the Tasmanian State service developing a national leadership profile within the complex field of coastal management and planning, including policy development and implementation, program development and project management.  This further developed Chris’ experience as a trainer, facilitator, information manager and communicator.

He has worked with national, State and local governments across Australia, the private sector, research bodies and NGOs, involving participation and leadership within networks, working groups and a number of intergovernmental bodies. He has also been a Research Fellow at the Institute of Marine and Antarctic Studies (IMAS) at the University of Tasmania working on large scale national cooperative research projects.

In addition to his main career path, Chris has also spent over 3 decades working on men’s health and wellbeing issues in Sydney and Hobart.  For over two years he was a senior facilitator and counsellor in Hobart on personal transformation programs for men using violence in their relationships. Through this work he further developed his own skills in counselling, mentoring, communication and leadership development.  In the past decade Chris has studied under such thought leaders as Thich Nhat Hanh, Eckhart Tolle, Arne Mindell and Brené Brown.

Chris has also worked in public radio, and is an experienced public speaker and presenter.  He has convened three major conferences and many workshops, and public consultation programs. He has balanced his work life through numerous outdoor and cultural pursuits, and has travelled extensively.

“Chris has deep empathy and emotional level of understanding for people and their professional needs.”

“Intelligence, commitment and empathy for others. This skill means that teams are more effective as a result of his work and results improved.”

“The sentiments on the coaching were overwhelmingly positive, and it was clear that the processes you ran touched everybody deeply. The module theme, Leading with Balance and Courageous Authenticity seemed to fit so well with the issues raised, and we ended on an extremely positive note.”
