Emerging Leaders Retreat

Who is this Retreat for?

The Emerging Leaders Retreat is a weekend program for younger people who know that they want to make a difference in the world, and yet exactly what to do and how to make a difference is still emerging.

This work has been informed by 25 years of developing leaders across the globe. It was also in response to the growing enquiry by young leaders to have effective leadership development earlier in life. As we work with more and more young people, we are witnessing a deepening level of consciousness and maturity. Your thinking and understanding about the complexity, uncertainty and interconnectedness of the world we live in is more integral. This is unusual, and reflects a level of conscious development that is more commonly found in people in their late 30s to early 40s.

You are one of those emerging young people and believe you want to make a difference too, no matter what your field.

This program is designed to be deeply nurturing – a time for you to reflect and review who you are, what makes you tick, what makes your spirit sing, what inspires you and what might be calling you?

The Emerging Leaders program is a program that provides the right balance between theory and tools for practice. The ISI Team brought together some of the most inspiring young leaders and carefully designed sessions that allowed the group to assess and enhance individual leadership skills. It was a mind-opening weekend centred on being your authentic self, and it exceeded my expectations. It is a great investment of individual time and corporate sponsorship.

Tarraleah is a beautiful historic estate in the heart of Tasmania’s Central Highlands. With a stunning world heritage wilderness backdrop and a wide range of quality accommodation options, it’s the perfect spot for our Leadership Retreat.

What accommodation options are there?

Accommodation for the retreat will be shared between participants.

We have allocated five Engineers Cottages, each sleeping up to 4 people.

The Engineers Cottages originally housed Hydro engineers and their families in the 1930’s and 40’s. Today they’ve been beautifully restored to their former glory, featuring original furniture pieces from the period. Each cottage features three bedrooms with a Queen bed in two rooms, and 2 x single beds in the 3rd room. The Cottages also have 2 bathrooms, a lounge room, dining room, and full kitchen for self catering, a sunroom and laundry facilities.

Check out the accommodation details here.

Is catering provided?

Majority of your meals will be covered throughout the Retreat.

  • Breakfast: This meal is self-catered. There are no grocery stores in Tarraleah so please bring all provisions with you.
Each cottage features a full kitchen with fridge, freezer, oven, stove-top, kettle, toaster, basic cookware, cutlery and crockery.
  • Lunch: This meal will be provided on both Saturday and Sunday in the ‘Highlander Arms’ – the on-site restaurant. This menu will include crowd friendly options such as quiches, pasta and salads.
  • Dinner: This meal will be provided on both Friday and Saturday nights. Served again the ‘Highlander Arms’ we look forward to coming together as a group at the end of each day. On Friday, we’ll enjoy a buffet meal and on Saturday, a pub style menu. Selections can be made closer to the time, so keep an eye out for further details.

Could this Leadership Retreat be covered by my work?

Absolutely! Many past participants have been sponsored by their workplace to attend. Please contact one of the facilitators for a discussion around this – we’d love to help!

The Emerging Leaders Program pushes beyond developing skills and techniques, and delves into working on the foundation of the individual. The program provides the tools and knowledge to bring out the best of your authentic self, through greater awareness and emotional intelligence. It has irreversibly changed the way I think, behave and interact – both at work and in my personal life. Working collaboratively with the ISI Team, and a remarkable group of young leaders is a rare opportunity that I would strongly recommend to any aspiring young leader of the future.

FAQs

I've never done any personal development before. Does that matter?

Not at all. The Emerging Leaders Retreat is the perfect place to start!

How many participants are there?

We look forward to welcoming 20 participants to this Retreat. This helps ensure we can work with each and every one of you throughout the weekend.

Is there Wifi and phone service at Tarraleah?

There is no internet at Tarraleah. Whilst you won’t need access during the Retreat, should you wish to stay connected please bring a Telstra or Vodaphone device with data. These are the only providers for this area.

What do I need to bring?

We invite you to pack warm, comfortable clothes so you can settle in and make yourself at home. This may include ugg boots and your puffer jacket! As we’re staying on the Estate, you may like to wander the grounds before or after the Retreat. Bring your runners (or gumboots!) so you enjoy a walk and visit the Scottish Highland cows. Feel free to bring extra blankets or a hot water bottle to make the Retreat extra cosy. You will also need to bring all breakfast food with you for your stay.
